SCULPTURE

THE BLUEBAT COLLECTION

2021

Reclaimed wood, plaster, wood pulp, paper mache, concrete, foam pipe insulation MDF, chipboard, textiles, glue, paints

Made in collaboration with Kennedy Heinrichs, we created this furniture set taking inspiration for form and color from bats and blue jays. The end table is based on a batwing, the lamp is based on a beak, and the bench is shaped to resemble a blue jay feather.

CORRUGATED AMPLITUDES

2021

Cardboard, butcher paper, glue, acetate film, paint

Created in response to a mimesis prompt at RISD, I took meticulous measurements of an audio cassette down to 1/32nd of an inch and studied its inner workings. I then made an exact replica, enlarged to a factor of 8.

CORRUGATED CELLULOSE

2020

Cardboard, glue

Created in response to a biomimicry prompt at RISD. The design is based on the structure of a plant cell and was required to hold my body weight. The chair is ergonomically fitted to my proportions.

An exploration in bent lamination, taking loose inspiration from an elephant’s form. Lamorinda Arts Council High School Visual Arts Second Place prize winner 2019.
